Grammy award winner ALAN JACKSON will perform September 30, 2010, at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, IA, as part of KSUX 105.7’s 20th Birthday Bash, celebrating 20 years of “Today’s Best Country” in the Sioux City region.
The career of ALAN JACKSON itself recently passed the 20-year signpost without the slightest stall in sight. The winner of the Academy of Country Music’s Top New Male Vocalist in 1990, JACKSON’s still got momentum like no other. He’s sold more than 50 million albums, and had 34 No. 1 hits – three of those off his last album, 2008’s Good Time. As superstars go, he’s one of only a handful of artists who’ve been around for two decades who still regularly top the country chart. And unlike the other veteran smashmakers who can make that claim, he’s the only one who is a true singer/songwriter, penning most of his own material.
JACKSON’s latest album, Freight Train, almost feels like a greatest hits set. “Somebody who listened to it who was close to me said they thought it felt like a mixture of all the things I’ve done for 20 years on one album,” said JACKSON about his release.
KSUX 105.7 signed on the air back in September 1990. Alan Jackson was a natural fit for this anniversary concert because throughout the years, Jackson has been a core artist for KSUX and integral to the success of the radio station.
Powell Broadcasting's General Manager, Dennis Bullock said "I can't think of a better way for KSUX to celebrate it's 20th birthday than to bring Alan Jackson to town so all of our loyal listeners can celebrate with us..."
KSUX Program Director Tony Michaels said "We received a lot of input from listeners and Alan Jackson's name kept popping as the perfect entertainer to celebrate this event!. Looking at our records, he is one of our most played artists since day one."
